Region 8 is happy to announce a workshop on Sat, Feb 25! This workshop earns 4.0 contact hours and the EARLY-BIRD registration fee is $45 for members and $90 for non-members. After February 18, the early-bird will end and regular pricing takes effect: $60 members, $105 non-members. Seating is limited, so register soon! LPCANC Student Members may attend for $25 - student seats are limited to 8 seats; after that, you will need to register at the regular rate.

Abstract: Today's clients are showing up with greater severity, more history of trauma, and ineffective coping strategies. Learn how to implement treatment strategies and goals that help even the toughest patients establish a recovery program.  By attending this experiential training you will learn the “Jedi Master” skills that you need to be a powerful force for good and transform clients' lives from Survival to Thriv-all.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn effective strategies for treating Mental Health & Addictions.
  2. Identify three core Interventions for client treatment success.
  3. Verbalize understanding of the interplay between Mental Health and Addictions
  4. Identify two personal coping strategies for avoiding burn-out working with Dual Diagnosis clients

Presenter Bio:

Matthew D. McMillan MS, LCAS, LPC, CCS has been providing Counseling and Consulting services in the Greensboro, North Carolina area since 1992. He loves to provide his clients with creative and innovative strategies that produce results. Matthew is a respected clinician and consultant that designed and facilitated Moses Cone Health System’s Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program. He also has established Drug Free Workplace Programs, Employee Assistance Programs, On-site Conflict Resolution and Crisis Intervention programs and Customized Trainings for Executive Leadership Development. Additionally, he has designed Adult & Youth Entrepreneurial and Leadership Development Programs and the HIL Program™ a horse assisted learning program. The HIL program utilizes the power of experiential training to challenge individuals or groups to grow in the areas of Health, Wellness, and Teamwork.
