Certification Course for TeleMental Health:

LPCANC has partnered with Ray Barrett, of the Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC, to offer this one 7.5-hour day course, to be followed up with an online 7.5-hour course to be eligible for the DCC credential. Click here for more details.

In order to keep the pace with the utilization of technology in practice, and to meet the current demand for telehealth services, we have collaborated with Telehealth Certification Institute, LLC and Clemson University to host the Telemental Health Counseling Essentials and Ethics course being held on 3/18/17 at Lenoir-Rhyne University.  We believe this training will greatly support us in adhering to our boundaries of competence.

The TeleMental Health Counseling Essentials and Ethics course covers 7.5 ethics CE hours, including all of the essential competencies of using technology in practice.  Participants who take this training will also have the option to complete a certification course in distance counseling by taking another 7.5 hour training online.

The Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC) credential is likely the most recognized credential in telemental health, and is provided by the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE), an affiliate of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC). Twenty years ago, the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) created the first official guidelines on distance counseling.  The DCC was created to provide a way to identify clinicians who are qualified telemental health providers.
